Kate Jennings has worked in international education in a variety of capacities at 5 different institutions in Canada over the past 21 years. Kate is currently the Director of International Student Services at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. This role is responsible for the units of International Admissions, International Student Advising, Clinical Counseling, and Immigration Advising, Homestay and Off-Campus Housing, and International Financial Services at VIU.
In addition to her role at VIU, Kate volunteers as the Network Leader for NAFSA's International Education Leadership Knowledge Community, an outgoing Co-Chair for NAFSA's Canada Member Interest Group (Canada-MIG), the Chair for the Education Abroad Professional Learning Community (EA PLC) of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), as a founding member of the Board for Global Women in Education (GLOW ED), and as a member of the Intercultural Certificate Program Steering Committee (BC Ministry of Education & BC Ministry of Advanced Education).
Kate served on the CBIE Board of Directors from 2002 to 2005. She was a Course Coordinator and Instructor with the International Educators Training Program at Queen's University, Canada from 2003 to 2007, where she primarily focused on training for new education abroad professionals. Kate has published and presented on a variety of international education topics, including invited sessions and workshops for NAFSA, CBIE and the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), as well as accepted workshops and presentations at the annual events of AIEC, BCCIE, CBIE, EAIE, and NAFSA.
