Ever since coming to the US as a seventeen year old international student from Jamaica I have been committed to comprehensive internationalization. I recruited family members and friends to the US and we soon had a small community on campus. Since then I have been committed to helping others take advantage of the same opportunities I’ve been afforded. I am committed to playing a critical role in cultivating globally competent graduates from our universities and I’ve devoted my education, work, and volunteer experiences to this cause.
I take pride in being instrumental in developing the International Center as a student leader, and more than tripling our international student population in the past seven years as a part of the leadership team. But my most significant accomplishment is implementing and managing Sunapsis, allowing better efficiency in our admissions and immigration processes. Without it, we would not have been able to manage our rapid growth effectively. I’ve also led strategic initiatives such as the Student Ambassador Program and the International Engagement Program. This speaks to my ability to see the big picture while being able to coordinate and execute the necessary steps to get there. Much of my success stems from my core values of being a servant leader. I consider it an honor to be able to serve the students and their parents, the university, our employees, and other key stakeholders in the local community.
My long-term goals includes being a senior administrator at a college or university where I’m able to lead the comprehensive internationalization of the campus. For now, I look forward to using this platform to develop and build relationships with potential partners and former contacts. Our goals are too big to accomplish alone which is why it’s important to form strategic partnerships. I look forward to connecting with colleagues and leaders in the international education field around the world. I’m sure I’ll be in a city near you soon!
